£5.30 for a single journey or 10% off with an oyster card?

Doesn't seem like very good value.

Humm... I don't recall guaranteed comfy seats, no sticky people, air conditioning, A BAR!!! and a fantastic view on the tube and buses? I'll pay that all day long.

(p.s. a season ticket is much cheaper)...

So it's really just a tourist junket rather than a way to get around.

It still sounds expensive and with not many ferries going further west than Waterloo.

Yes. It's horrible. Terrible. Avoid it at all costs. Don't tell anyone about it. Feel free to stay using the tube [+]

One of the best kept "secrets" of London Bridge - Canary Wharf commute there is.

Well I'm a cyclist so your tube-snobbery doesn't work on me smile but I do have one of these stop right by my workplace so I'm curious.

Is that the one that runs from Greenwich through to the west end?

If so the first time I took it was September 11th, getting off the Isle of Dogs from Harbour Exchange into town without going through Canary Wharfe as we'd been told it might be the next target, it was most civilised compared to the JLE.

Basically, they're private and unsubsidized, so you've got to pay the full fare. Unlike the buses and the tubes, who can pretend it's cheap at the ticket office because of the subsidies.

not entirely true, they did a deal with TFL so you get 1/3 off your fare with a valid travelcard of any kind.

i had the chance to invest in this over a decade ago when he was just doing the holiday inn (now rotherhite hilton) to canary wharf. god knows what AEG paid him for the business. shame i didn't have a pot to piss in back then!

i always use the thames clippers when i can, and wifey now uses it daily since getting a job for bozza.
