I wonder if he really intends to fly it, or is it one of those daft projects that just got a little bit out of control and everyone was too polite to say anything. Like Vulcan to the sky for example.
Or the London Olympics. For example.Olympus good - a million or so for maximum noise and rock and roll (ain't noise pollution).
Olympics bad - billions for sporty amateur running types to run away from a bloke with a gun we know fires blanks; sporting amateur swimmy types to swim to the end of the pool..and back; sporting amateur athletic types to throw pointy/heavy things at a field, or fill the field with sand and jump into it, or put some scaffolding next to the field, and jump over it; or professional racket/ball/horse/bicycle people to pretend they're amateurs..and in the case of the UK team, perform like rank amateurs: all of whom are roundly trounced by Americans/Russians/Chinese who have access to the latest undetectable horse drugs that enable a Dutchman to do a 100m sprint in 5.6 seconds..in clogs.

I could not stop laughing- the front wheel is classic and I am not sure what shock absorbers would do to stop it falling off!
Maybe he meant shimmy dampers, will make f
kall difference though. The only place that thing's taking him is straight to the scene of the crash.Edited by Flintstone on Saturday 16th October 22:00
Looks like he may not be able to test it, probably for the best...

Having watched it again, I think it's safe to say he never intended to fly it, it was more a way of getting attention - which it has done, so good on him. Trouble is, the aircraft doesn't demonstrate anything other that a complete lack of engineering aptitude (in terms of both design and execution) and as for "innovation"? I can't see any at all TBH.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPsjlwjU39U&fea...
If he was really serious about building a flying machine, he should have gone down the microlight route, rather thay trying to replicate a Cessna.

In africa there may be laws but you are kidding yourself if you think anyone will take them seriously.

I to say, you're obviously a much more
well travelled man than I.

Rant over, there may well be something in what you're saying, but I was merely trying to summarise what's in the video I linked.

No need to go on a rant. I grew up in south africa and travelled around a bit so have a fair feel for the way africa works and it is fairly lawless. Yes the caa etc said he wont be able to fly it without xyz licensing and the news article implied it would never fly but then they were never going to say "well he is going to fly it anyway"
two minutes in... he appears to be starting to try a take off run across a ploughed field....
