Heston Airport - reconnisance Spitfire.
Discussion
I grew up on a a housing estate in Heston which (along with a stretch of the M4 by heston services) was built on the site of the old Heston Airport.
The airport was famous for being the site of Neville Chamberlains "Peace in our time" speech..
Anyway, when I was at school, (in the 70's) we did a school project about the airfield. One of the topics I seem to recall being discussed was a reconnisance spitfire that was painted silver / unarmed and very fast, does anyone know of this? Google seems to have failed me on this occassion.
Eric Mc... I think this one could be up your street...
