AFAIA 637 VGS still operate from Little Rissington and the the main runway is still open as an RLG for Hercules sorties. I would imagine that, with the planned closure of Lyneham (and the planned move to Brize), there will be an increase in trafic.

What was he domestic site is now Upper Rissington.

I thought it was Little Rissington.

Fly over it from time to time. Not particularly active but RAF seems to still have a presence - seen Grobs, autogyros, etc in the circuit, but also heard that planning had been granted for housing development.

There's a nice kart circuit there as well.

As I said earlier, the airfield is RAF Little Rissington (it used to be the home of Central Flying School) and was, apart from IIRC the period 1977-1979 where it became home to the Royal Irish Rangers and was known as Imjin Barracks.

What was the Domestic Site to the North, including the former Married Quarters as well as the Officers' Mess, is now known as Upper Rissington (if you scroll right about 500 yds from Tonker's pin point you can see the former Officers' Mess).

Upper Rissington might be the closer postal location, but on the NATS map (and, for as long as I can remember) the airfield has always been referred to as Little, rather than Upper.

Started my ATC BGT at Little Rissington. Be sad if it was shut!

Raced Karts on the brilliant circuit in the 90's. The place was always under threat of closure from either local Noise abatement muppetry (it's an airfield FFS rofl) or the MoD itself. Was home of the Bromsgrove Kart Club.

I used to live in Longborough when I was a baby, the old man flew from Little Rissington when he was instructing on JPs. The hours I spent in a pram at Little Rissi on a Sunday whilst the pilots flew (and crashed) their model aircraft.....

You thinking of moving there Tonker? It's a lovely part of the country with some fun roads.
