Hello all,

I thought from reading the "your first flight" thread that I would like get my nephew a model of the very aeroplane he took his first flight in (he's currently in Florida and his first flight was going out there). So the question is is there somewhere I can put the flight number in and get back the details of the actual aeroplane used?

I know flight numbers are reused so time\date info would probably be needed as well.

Google shows ways of finding details about future flights but I can't find anything that appears accurate about past flights. It was DL41 BTW and seems it was likely a 767-400.

Pretty easy, you need the route and the date, they tend to fly the same aircraft on the same routes day in day out

www.flightstats.com

Key in the flight number, might have to select 'more information', or something, for the aircraft type, can't remember.

edit...

767-400 it is...probably smile

Flight is also KLM 6001

Looks like you have to register to get earlier dates.

Delta DL41 is indeed a 767-400

It's not a Junkers 52, so you can eliminate that...

That site was a good provider of info thanks.

All I need now is the Reg No

(p.s not surprised about it not being a JU52, SiL would have mentioned the corrugations, she's quick like that hehe)

Excellent

Delta were very good in responding to my email (especially on a Sunday), so good on them, very pleased thumbup

It seems that it was ship number 001804 (N828MH), now I need to track down a model.

It seems plastic wise I need to buy 2 767-300's and do some cut and shut and extend the wings, change the undercarriage (although I was thinking of putting it on a stand), and use 777 windows...

Well every journey starts with a step.

Three engines are always best.

Talking of 3 engines..I think that my first flight was on a British Midland Trident in 1973.

Thanks,

Yes I've seen those very good but a bit pricy, may want to see what I can do myself first. Thanks

Not British Midland. They never operated Tridents.

In the UK, the operators were, BEA, Northeast and British Airways.

Thanks Eric,

It was a guess - I'm fairly certain it was three engined as it was a talking point for me at the time, probably not a Tristar as we were only going as far as Dussoldorf and it was run by a civilian contractor for the MoD (it was all RAF and Army and dependants as passengers).

I know that British Midland had such a contract at some point.

The only UK operator of 727s was Dan Air.

British Midland operated Douglas DC-9s (twin engines), Viscounts and, on occasion, BAC 1-11s.

Another operator of Tridents I omitted from my initial list was Channel Airways - who went bust in 1972 their Tridents going to BKS (which later became Northeast).

At one point British Midland had a tie in with Cyprus Airways. Cyprus Airways did have a couple of Tridents. There is a remote chance that a Cyprus Airways Trident might have been used by British Midland on an ad hoc basis, I suppose.
