The press-conference panel consists of three mid-level NASA astro-physicists.

I don't think we have much to worry about.

Had the panel consisted of the head of NASA, the National Security Advisor, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Bruce Willis....then I'd be worried.

If the panel included David Icke, I'd be petrified.

...of yet another England vs. Scotland thread on PH? wink

I imagine this will be an 'extraordinary object' if you have more than a passing interest in astronomy, astrophysics or suchlike. For most people, it will be a bunch of lab coated men using a very expensive telescope who have found a new rock in space.

It turns out that when they said Highlands, they mean very High Lands.

All predicted many years ago.

I for one welcome our new Scottish Overlords...

That's not even a sentence. And these are the same guys who got man on the moon?

I think that mankind, with the possible exception of the Chinese, is doomed to spend the rest of his time playing computer games and fretting over his next mobile phone upgrade.

It's the Vogon constructor fleet, apparently the earth is due to be demolished to make way for a new intergalactic motorway.

It was all on the notice boards in your local planning department on Alpha Centauri.

Of course. If you want to survive out here, you've got to know where your towel is.
