I think it has been pretty much stripped for spares for the other two over the last few years.

Aren't the Indians serial acquirers of used carriers? I'm sure we can persuade them to snap up Invincible to go along with Hermes and their lightly-used ex-Soviet carrier wink

Have they actually taken delivery of the ex-Soviet carrier? Last I heard was that it was still in a dock somewhere in Russia while they argued over cost increases.

More likely to end up in India on one of those scrap beaches.

I'd like to see it on the Thames with some sea harriers and sea kings etc on it as a museum like the USS Intrepid in NY.

I'd like to see that happen too, maybe put a Bucaneer and a Phantom etc on there too. Like a Royal Navy through the ages.

Not yet, I don't think.

Last I heard, they had finalised a revised deal for the refurb costs and it's expected to be delivered and enter service in 2012.

Apparently it's also false advertising as it's not a photo of Invincible they are using. hehe

There was a rumour going around over the last few days that India were going to buy some of our Harriers.

Wouldn't surprise me. India etc are filling up their arsenals nicely with kit we can't afford to use any more. The west is up to its ears in debt, the east is up to its ears in cash. Our cash wot we gave them when we bought the stuff they made for us because we were too lazy/uncompetitive to make it.

Do you think it's possible to get her back into service for the Monaco GP? It would make all the playboys' yachts look a bit tame if you could fit her into the harbour over race weekend.

Only if you let us retro fit a V8 powered catapult to the ramp and launch Bernie the Midget into the harbour wall..... whistle
