I was sitting at South Ruislip station waiting to head back into town this morning pondering the chance of seeing an exec jet dropping into Northolt. They cross the station quite low and it's always interesting.
But no, not today. A unmistakable rumble to the west and a grey Spitfire was running low, wheels down before turning to final and dropping in to land there. Could hear it burping and popping in the distance after landing.
Rather made my day to be honest. Not seen it there before. Is it based there or visiting. I didn't note any markings other than it being grey all over.

Excellent - I often used to see Spitfires doing some sort of flypast in Stanmore (acknowledging Bentley Priory, I presume). I've only seen the Caroline Grace one up close.
I do love the random way Spitfires turn up here (Suffolk) from time to time. I'm working away and gradually realise there's that sound again, and rush outside squinting into the sun like a schoolboy.

I have seen one a couple of times over Aldeburgh and Minsmere (above the danger area obviously...)

Is it safe (there) from helicopters that "...weren't parked there when I taxied out..."

It did a solo display around 11.30am, fast low passes over Northolt and a victory roll! Sounded lovely going over my house! There was probably a ceremony of some sort at Northolt, is today an anniversary of anything?

Ouch. Eleven years ago tomorrow, that was. One of the perils of ground handling a fruity tail-dragger where you can't see over the nose.
Bursts of throttle and boot the rudder I believe. But I am perhaps guilty of too much reading 
(I might normally crack some joke about women drivers but Ms Grace is better than that)
