Thought you might like these photos from my visit today to the USS Midway in San Diego. Should you ever find yourself here, set aside a day to explore it as it's an amazing place!

Enjoy, here is a link to the full set

Would love to get on board a real aircraft carrier, love to see a Hawkeye too, always thought they were nice planes but have never seen one.

Thanks for putting these up!

I saw the Midway (from a distance) the last time I was in San Francisco which was a good few years ago now, but parked next to it was the Carl Vinson which absolutely dwarfed it. Would love to have a look round on my next visit smile

Nice pics, thanks for posting smile

crickey you've got good eyes: its in San Diego!

We went on our honeymoon. A great place, but its a huge museum (well duuuhhh...) and we were too hot and thirsty to finish it all. Next time, I would like 2 days to do it justice.

Well it was in the early 90's, my eyesight was great back then! Or maybe it had popped in to Alameda for a visit! wink

Great pictures, it's on my list of things to see.
The view from the bridge really does bring home the sheer size of her!
Though I guess trying to land a Tomcat at night, while the ship is rolling & rising it would appear no bigger than a postage stamp!

She still looks like she could do a job, reckon she can be jump started? wink
