Mosquito book

I have a question for PH's resident aviation experts, Eric perhaps or whoever else can help

My father is 60 at the end of April, and he has asked me if I can get him a book on the history of the Mosquito. His father flew them in WW2, and my dad has always had a fondness for them, not just for personal reasons but also as a cracking bit of kit generally.

Could anyone reccomend me a good book for the old man, the more in depth the better really. He has a specific book on the Banff wing that my grandad flew in, " 'A Separate Little War - The Banff Strike Wing Versus The Kriegsmarine And Luftwaffe 1944-1945' by Andrew D Bird " (great book by the way !) but was after a more general story of the aircraft itself

There are many, many books on Mosquito operations and the technical development of the aircraft - not to mention modelling guides etc. The plane was used in so many roles in WW2 and afterwards that there is much to write about.

Thanks for the reply, The huge range of books is part of my problem, I was hoping for a personal reccomendation of 'the' definitive book, if there is such a thing.

I will have a trawl and see what grabs my attention

I'd go by writers. Martin Bowman, Robert Jackson and Edward Shacklady have all written good stuff on the Mossie.

The modelling book by Osprey is excellent as, although aimed at modellers, it gives an extensive listing of the myriad versions of the Mosquito and how they differed.

This is supposed to be a good book: Mosquito at War although I haven't read it so can't really give a personal review.

I'd also have a look here: IanAllanPublishing as they have literally hundreds of aviation books, and their service is fantastic.
