Hi folks

Most of my family is flying into Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport in a couple of weeks. What I'd like to do is take my son "Plane spotting" so he can see his mum's plane fly in and park up (before we go down to meet them at Arrivals).

Does anybody know the best location to "spot" from? Hopefully it would be convenient for T2 so we get to arrivals easily.

TIA smile

Not been to Manchester Auirport for over 30 years but I did think that they have a dedicated entusiast's area - unlike most UK airports these days.

Cheers for that John_P smile

I had seen it but its not great for T2. (You have to jump back in your car and drive round to T2 and pay another set of parking charges frown)

Sorry for being a picky sod smile

It has to be the Airport Pub (Hotel) then, you can park up free and it's literally 2 mins drive from the terminals.

The kids can also play in the beer garden whilst you have a quick pint drink, it's situated at the threshold of the runway so the views are fantastic.

There is a viewing spot on top of T1 short stay car park but it isn't the best for catching departures or landings, there's nothing available at T2.

Have a good day! biggrin

Thanks Royston smile

Slight change of plan - Decided to take him to the "dedicated" Visitor/Spotter (as suggested above) after all ! It seems to provide a much better view of the planes and (apparently) I should be able to download an "App" which gives real-time arrivals information. So this means Ive got enough time to drive round to the Airport "proper" and make sure I'm there when SWMBO and kids get through customs.

Cheers folks thumbup

I think it'll be quite fun, go and see Concorde and the other stuff, watch a few planes land .. keep an eye on the iPhone app .. then be there in plenty of time!

hi,

there are two pubs to go at,
the airport hotel, and the tatton arms which reopens this weekend i think,
the viewing park isnt cheap but its very good.

you can always try parking at the valley lodge hotel. and walk up the hill this will put you exactly on the opposing side of the viewing park.
if you are ever round the area again, jump on the train into town and go to the air and space museum is very good.

There are arrival screens at the viewing park if you don't have the app.
