Putting together a decent man-sized Mixed Grill
Discussion
Ok. It's my brother's birthday soon and we both like Mixed Grills. So I thought I could try putting one together and cooking it for his birthday. Originally, I thought I'd do it for all four of us, but I think that would be too expensive, not to mention a pain to get it all ready at the same time. I want it to be nice quality, but not silly money either. I suppose it should contain the following:
1 8oz Steak (fillet, sirloin, rump)
1 Chicken breast
1 Gammon Steak
1 Sausage
1 Chop (lamb or pork)
Obviously, accompaniments can be sourced without problem.
Any suggestions or alternative lists most welcome.

I'd go quality rump for the steak requirement personally on a mixed grill, a nice thick 8oz would be good and then:
Chicken breast marinated in BBQ sauce
Pork Chop from butchers with kidney still attached
Barnsley lamb chop
5oz gammon steak
Large quality beef and pork sausage
Chunky, crispy double fried chips
Beer battered onion rings
Mushrooms sauted in garlic butter
That'll do me.

Sense this does not make..
Don't bother with chicken unless you are very good at cooking it, ruins a mixed grill imo.
Try really thick cut bacon instead of gammon, goe for a couple of variety of chipolata style sausages (I always find a nice juicy sausage refreshing in between mouthfuls of meat

I used to work down at Sellafield and there was pub in small village nearby (Gosforth) that did a mixed grill for about £9:
8oz steak
Gammon steak
Chicken breast
2 slices Black pudding
Cumberland ring
Liver
2 fried eggs
Lamb chop
Pork chop
Half-rack ribs
couple of rashers of crispy bacon
Tomato
Mushroom
Chips
Onion Rings
Quality was OK, value was tremendous! Used to leave the chips...
