stove top kettles
Discussion
Having been waiting for what seemed a lifetime for the kettle to boil this morning it occurs to me that the 5 quid ikea kettle we have may not be at the sharp end of kettle technology.
Any recommendations for a stove top that doesnt take all day to boil?
Before anyone asks, yes I do need a stove top rather than electric as I don't have many plugs in my kitchen

The Le Creuset ones have good reviews (as you'd expect)...

We had a stove top kettle when I was a kid, it always seemed to take longer than the electric one to boil.
Surely technology doesn't enter into it with a kettle. The element just turns electricity to heat and that's it, whether it cost £5 or £50, it's the element rating that matters and that's it.
There will be some effect by the size and shape of the kettle and what it's made of but not so much as the element.

We have a Le Creuset. Have no idea if it's any quicker or slower than an electric version. The middle ring on my stove is huge (you've no idea how many versions of that sentence took to not leave an open goal) so it boils quickly.
In saying that, whenever family help themselves to make a cuppa, I'm always amazed at how much water they put in for one cup.
I've just ordered this from John Lewis today! 25% discount day btw.

AGA ones are supposed to be good too but a bit pricier.
