Roasting my nuts

Don't know if this should be in the food or garden section.

the other half has ordered some peanut plants,
someone has mentioned that come the time to harvest them you cannot eat them directly, they must be heat treated first to kill bacteria etc, it is suggested that a spell in the oven will do this.

any one done this ??

Just place the shelled nuts in a smoking hot dry pan and toss them about until golden.
