Has anyone here tried it?

I am about to finish my bottle of Johnny Walker Black, and it has been fantastic! Thinking of trying the red stuff next, but I don't know anything about it.

Should I bother, or just stick to black?

Red is for mixing, try Green Label - totally different, but imho better than Black.

My god blue is expensive! Maybe when I graduate wink

Where do you buy green? I have only ever seen black and red in the supermarkets...

£20 you say? I think you might have just poked my alcoholic (student) tendencies with a stick bigmouth

JW green is the pick of the range for me.

The larger Tesco, Sainsburys & Asda all stock Green label, well down my way atleast. Also Asda sometimes have
It on offer, £20 or so, instead of the £28 normally.

Red is pretty characterless. Better off with a discounted malt for any sort of taste imo. Blue is absolutely lovely, but £££. Supermarkets often do cheap Jura, Laphroig, Glenmo, Bowmore and that's what I'd be buying instead.

Gold isn't half bad either. Blue is the best JW, though.

I would question that, there was a $4500 bottle of some sort of JW at Singapore Airport that I would guess is better.

I really don't like Blue that much. It's OK but certainyl not worth £150 of my money. Green/Gold both superb.

For a budget blend look at Teachers, Grant's Ale Cask or Family Reserve, Black Bottle or Vat 69. All smashing drams.

JW Black is certainly better than red IMHO.

Purely from a flavour point of view (and ignoring cost) I'd order them like this:

Green
Gold
Blue
Black
Red

But I'd much rather have 6 or 7 bottles of black than 1 of blue.

I'd totally agree with lefty's ranking, but Double Black is worth it, if you can find it.

Ooh, never tried that, how does it compare to Black, what's it like? What's different?

I've had a couple of "special edition" JW's that have been so similar that I would struggle to tell them apart.

I do like black bottle and the Grants Ale cask, but I am definitely not a fan of teachers.

bailie nicol jarvie is also a good blended for a sensible price (£17 ish)

Double Black is like Black label squared, everything more smokey, more peaty, and way more intense.

Not as easy to drink as the standard, but still a nice change.
