Sorry - I didn't look.

I agree but never buy these since I find a small one is too small, and the large one too large.

The small ones are probably designed for racing drivers / pensioners who don't eat a lot.

Ah well. Nearly there on one of those counts. frown

I've never bought tinned pie. I've always bought the ones in the frozen/fridge section, that require 45min in the oven.
Duno why, but the impression i have with them is that they're on par with the likes of yucky food like Rustlers (ive never eaten rustlers, never intend to). Or am i wrong?

Isn't it? lick

It's the pastry which sells these pies to me: lightly flaky with gooey underpinnings.

Of course I have to bash the lid into the gravy once puffed up, and cover it all with lots of pepper.

Other forms of pastry just don't 'do it' for me: far too dry / claggy.

Ms. Mobilia Chicanita, you are a deeply naughty lady.

You know that many Northern PHers are powerless to stop themselves spontaneously ejaculate when a lady mentions "ASDA" "pie" and price reductions in the same breathy sentence.

I haven't eaten a fray bentos for about 20 years... since I found something that looked suspiciously like the bell end from a cat's willy pretending to be meat.

I gagged when I saw and have never bought another one since.

MC, Please try and track down a Budgens that have the Newitts pies in stock.

These are hand made using quality meat and are the best pies I have ever tried.

There are also the only butcher I buy meat from, despite being about 22 miles from me.

I can never get the bottom to cook. The top piles up no problem, the middle is hotter than the sun, but the base is always soggy slime.
