I had a lovely Sunday lunch yesterday, the bread which came prior to our starters came with a butter, which I can't put into words of how nice it was!

I've always used Lurpack which I thought was lovely, but the stuff I had yesterday was immense. It was very light in colour almost like Lurpack.

So what butter does everyone on here use for cooking/sandwiches etc?

Yip, Lurpak all the way. Takes a bit of getting used to if you've had your tastebuds desensitised by cheap salted varieties over the years.

I believe the salt is to mask the fact it's inferior butter, the more saltier it is, the poorer the product.

But I've just found the latest offering from Kerrygold, which is on offer in the 'markets at the mo for a quid. Has the creamyness of ice cream! It's rather good. yum

Lurpack is good but I also like President and Yeo Valley (although it's been a while since I had the latter).

Sadly I forgot due to being 3 pints of Guinness down (extreme lightweight) by the end of the meal. I'm going to go back in a few weeks hopefully and I'll ask then.

try some "local" butter. We used to occasionally get one from a farmers market and it was on a whole different level of delicious to anything you could get in supermarkets.

The Boot in lapworth. Ozzy osbourne and Sharon eat in there quite a lot as they have a house nearby. The lead singer from the enemy goes in most days as well, it wasn't cheap but well worth it!

Unsalted President or Normandy/Brittany butter is the stuff. Always very pale in colour. If you want salted butter add a little sea salt

Try Sainsbury's Farmhouse butter - its not on the shelves with the rest but in the deli counter somewhere and you buy it by weight.

It is made with whey cream and is bloody lovely.
