Were they really bigger when you were a kid??

I measured one against a Club biscuit and its only slightly longer these days. Surely they used to be massive relative to a 'regular' biscuit?

And why do they never put enough jam in the jammy ones?

Yep, they were definitely bigger. They're quite disappointing now.

Nah, they are the same but your hands are bigger

(Clarification, unless you grew up in Oz and now live in the UK smile )

Interesting one this one.
I had a quick google and it seems everyone says your hands are bigger now etc.

Unfortunately for that arguement there was a guy on tv a couple of years ago. He has a "Museum of packaging" and has a wagon wheel wrapper from the early 70s. It was about twice the size of a modern one.

So bks to the "yer hands are bigger" arguement.

Certain they are considerably smaller now.

Coincidentally there was a comment made in the office this morning regarding a fellow 'worker' and allegations of him being regularly buggered (all in jest) " he has an arse like a Burton's Wagon Wheel"

Then ensued a discussion on the size of wagon wheels. We concluded that they are smaller now.

I dare not mention this subject in front of my Dad, a great torrade will begin and end in discussing Wagon Wheels in a toasted tea cake. Still can't stand them and couldn't give a fk how big they are or were..

If you can see packaging from the 90s you could always compare the weight- should be a good indicator.

The reality is always disappointing; the idea of a Wagon Wheel is better than actually eating one. They always leave an unpleasant greasy taste in the mouth. Tunnocks supply a far better quality of sugar-laden junk food; snowballs, caramel logs, caramel wafers, Tea Cakes! yum

Are they still covered in "chocolate flavoured coating" rather than just chocolate?

Never trusted them since I read that on the packet. Devious biscuits. That's like certain caravan dwelling gentlemen re-doing your drive with tarmac flavoured coating. You're not getting what you paid for.

And they've shrunk. Same with curly wurlys. They used to be as tall as a very tall horse.

Thanks........... I've read the post and am about to go out to the garage (after checking the Internet Weather site and it is now after 1 in the morning here) and making sure I can get the TVR off the hoist in the morning and go get a wagonwheel some fresh bread for breakfast and it will be Fathers Day. Hope the family plans on letting me sleep in and they may never know I am gone.

Darn that aint going to work as they will hear the TVR start up.....But then again I could just push the car out of the garage and down the driveway. Isn't it just grand when a well thought out plan fits together........ 7 11 get ready, I'm coming for a wagonwheel some fresh bread.........

Yes they are, this put me off them for life when I noticed it.

yes Indeed they did - absolutely no comparison between the wheels of yesteryear and, what can only be described as a largish biscuit of today's wheel.

True. Bloody tiny compared to how they used to be.

Like Monster Munch - you used to only get about a dozen crisps in a pack, and they were as big as my hand when I was 3-4.

They're tiny compared to the hands of my 4yo.... Unless I've managed to breed a pair of kids with enormous hands.

Hmmm.
