Just wondering if anyone's been ? If so - what was it like ?

I was wondering, as there's 6 of us going next Saturday as part of our 40th Birthday celebrations and wondered if anyone had been and had any recommendations for the food ?

I went a few weeks back with 3 others, all good enough friends to share food so I tried most of the menu.

The meat fruit and the tipsy cake are instant classics, as good as the hype.
I also had 'rice and flesh' to start, a great dish, and the fish mains were very good.
The only dissapointment in the food was the 'chocolate bar' for me..didn't find the dish balanced at all.
I thought the service was poor overall, and the room very noisey, as in full of echos and sharp sounds, rather than buzzy.

In all, despite the excellent food, I wouldn't want to go back and pay those prices for that service again, but the food certainly deserves sampling.

Have a look at Andy Haylers site for a great review and details of most of the menu.

Had a meal at the chef's table last weekend, which was a great experience. The head chef gave us so much time during the meal, nitro-churned our ice cream personally and gave us a kitchen tour at the end of the evening. A great example of how to do a chef's table properly.

As above, the Meat Fruit and the Tipsy Cake are both worthy of the hype and earn their status as signature dishes. Our table loved the Meat Fruit so much we ordered them again. Their ketchups are also spectacular.

Can you believe that I was meant to go there on Thursday - and a treat!!!

Two colleagues went and I bumped into one at 7pm coming back into teh office - he said (well I think he did) that the food was spectacular and a 'must visit' place.

We get about and that is a good enough rec. for me to not turn it down a second time!
