prob a repost, but whats the fascination with meat being cooked raw? on all the cooking programmes if duck or lamb isn't bleeding its not right.
Who's to say whats right and wrong?
one day I like steak burned to a crisp, other days I like it pink and tender, same with chicken one day I might like it golden, chewy and dry and another succulent and moist...... what the hell is going on ? It's got to the point where restaurants and "tv" chefs go mental if you want anything well done.
what do you lot think?

I agree. Sometimes I love overcooked chicken, especially wings lick

Food is a very personal thing and we all like different things. It's wrong for people to say we should only eat certain meats pink, bloody or virtually raw. I like pink steak, but don't like pink duck.

Just ignore them, it is people paying attention to their egotistical rants that fills them with self-importance.

Eat what you like, however you like it cooked. If someone you are paying to prepare a meal for you doesn't care about your tastes, and dares to tell you what you should like, do you really want to be giving them your money?.

Pink pork or poultry is being sent back and I don't want them to make me another, I have seen "Waiting". yuck

I agree some things can be done different ways... for example, duck can be rare, or can be cooked throughly (for example, Chinese crispy duck).

But ordering fillet steak and asking for it to be cooked "well done" is the equivalent of buying a Ferrari and using it to tow a caravan! If you like well done steak, you might as well save yourself a fortune and get rump instead...

They are only trying to help you realise that you're wrong and that overcooking destroys flavour.

That is the crux of it though, who are they to tell me what I should like?. Maybe some people like the taste of dried out, over cooked steak.

I have met real life people who actually claim they like the taste of celery. These people are wrong of course, but I don't think it is my place to tell them that they should not like celery. I just leave them to get on with it and quietly shake my head in disgust.

This.

Who the hell likes chewy dry chicken?

As for well done steak - you may as well slip off your shoes and eat them.

I think you can eat your food how you like it, but having worked in restaurants and had people order their fillet 'very well done' against my advice, then had them complain because it is too tough (Err yeah, like I said it would be,) I can see both sides of the argument.
