Do they sell to the general public? Is it a case of phoning up the sales line and asking to buy a cask? What else would I need in order to serve it - a stand and a pump? Anything else? Are these hire-able ?

How long do you think it will take to drink? It goes off very quickly. The brewer I was talking to the other day was recommending a mini pin to me and said the 2nd pint is the best, and it goes down hill from there.

If you are talking about a proper steel barrel and associated pump then yes, its all hireable.

Set up properly, the shelf life should as per a pub.

No need for a pump, tap and spile is easy.

Simple choice, sedimented or bright. Bright beer is easiest, the brewery will filter it, all you do is prop the barrel up on a study table, and after a couple of hammer whacks....you are ready to go. Best within 24 hours...but should last a few days.

Sedimented needs 24 hours to settle, but probably lasts at least a week.

keg does not equal cask

keg = fizzy piss

cask = the real deal

rent-a-keg is just the website URL. They do warm brown beer (including TT's) as well as the fizzy stuff.
