Hows Your Secret Crop ?

The bush in the park near us that yielded fantastically is not looking good. The council trimmed it back so heavily just before flowering I think it's buggered this year. Fingers crossed the bushes at les parents are going well instead this year. That said blackberries near us appear to be in abundance. Luckily living in Clacton - no-one seems to have any idea of their value!

Was walking along a country lane recently and there were loads of tiny red/yellow fruits on the ground that looked like cherries but tasted like plums, and the trees looked like hawthorn. Any idea what they were?
