Right then, this stuff is pretty infamous here in Scotland, what with being the "neds" (ie chavs) drink of choice.
I tried it for the first time last year (I'm 32) and to be honest, can't really see what the fuss was all about, although granted I only had a couple of mouthfuls of the stuff.
Anyone willing to confess to drinking it?!

I've tried it and didn't think it was too bad - tastes a bit like dandelion and burdock. However I can't understand its popularity as (imvvho) there are far more palatable forms of cheap alcohol available.
Fans of the odd park bench tipple really ought to try 'Selekt' vodka from Asda, £8.72 a bottle. I bought some to make damson vodka, fully expecting it to be as rough as fvck. Curiously, it isn't.

I'll put my hand up...
It tastes similar to, and has the same consistency of undiluted vimto. It's no stronger than a standard wine, but it has a much higher caffeine content which gives the drinker the ability to perform the ancient Scottish martial art, know as "f
ku". It's basically headbutting and throwing glass bottles at each other.
It's generally too expensive for winos and tramps to drink (their drink of choice is White Lightening or similar cider, £1.89 for 3 litres) and is the standard domain of the Ned.

As a regular drinker I'll add my thoughts on it.
I frequently drink it as a pregame to a night out or alongside a few cans if we're having a Fifa night.
It's very convenient. Has plenty of units for its volume, is screw top, doesnt weigh as much as 4 cans and in my opinion tastes better than other comparable "cargos" such as white, red or rose wine.
It's about £6-7.5 per bottle where I live now so it's more expensive than most supermarket or cornershop wine. The post above about it not appealing to jakies due to the cost is true but I think it's attachment to neds or chavs came from what I mentioned coupled with someone elses post about the caffeine. It is portable, easy to hide in a large jacket(Berghaus mera peak, yellow and blue naturally), doesnt require a bottle opener and most importantly is a handy weapon once empty.

It's the caffine content that makes people mental on it, Scottish Labour were moaning on about banning it for this reason:

I was up in the "Bucky Triangle" a week or so ago and tried it. My uncle had a bottle chilling in his fridge and I thought it actually tasted quite nice so had a few chasers when we then went to the pub and they had it there!
As a side note, lots of Scottish people seem to drink a pint and a short and mixer at the same time. Although this could just be my family, we can be quite big drinkers when we want to!
