I wish I had taken more time on the presentation instead of being drunk and starving
Hahaha ;O) thats the trouble with an internet based competition you judge with your eyes mostly. Thanks to those of you who voted for the salad. The other entries were of a very good standard too, especially Elias' pit!
MC has asked that I post a recipe so here goes:
Vietnamese 'surf & turf'.
Sirloin marinated in nam-pla, lime juice, chilli, garlic, palm sugar and mirin. All to taste but probably one to two limes and two to three tbs of nam-pla.
Squid soaked in a marinade of nam-pla, chilli, mirin, soy, ginger and palm sugar. Again to taste.
Salad of bean sprouts, mooli, coriander, chilli, mint, cucumber, spring onion, tomato, blood orange, plum and crushed toasted peanuts.
Dressing of nam-pla, chilli, garlic, mint, coriander, lime, pepper and, you guessed it, palm sugar.
I know that's vague but it really is a balancing act with these flavourings, as you'll know.
Watch out for Cooking comp #15 very soon!!
