what pub nibbles for 40th bday?

having 40-50 people to a country pub for my 40th and want to provide nibbles. Its the week before christmas so festive is good. I think the pub has to provide them so cant be too fancy canapes + dont want to spend a fortune! Any ideas what to get that look/taste nice but dont resemble some naff beige wedding buffet?!

How about the 'atomic buffalo turds' from calibrax's BBQ competition entry? Chillies stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon. I'll definitely be making these at some point.

Apart from that there are dozens of things you could do with a Christmassy theme: mini turkey kebabs, cocktail sausages wrapped in bacon, stuffing balls, goosefat-roasted mini potatoes with garlic and rosemary, etc.
