We must all know of some very odd places, either for food, drink or both.
I just thought a little fun thread might be good.
I'll start with "The House of the Trembling Madness" (named after the beer; "Delerium Tremens") in York. If you don't know it's there, you'd never notice. The bar is situated above what is basically an off license which also sells cigars. You enter the shop and head for the back room (which is full of beers, some very nice and some very rare) just before you get to the room, on the left, are some narrow stairs which lead up to the bar. This is when the quirkiness kicks in! Stuffed animals adorn the walls and there is a great small room with a single table and benches around it. This is built for socialising! The bar itself sells a beer I had previously not come across before "Jever", alongside other ciders, ales etc. They do sell food, but I've yet to sample any there so can only go off reviews which on the whole are favourable.
The shop itself is called "The Bottle". I hope some fellow ph'ers get chance to visit, it is great fun with some good, good drinks.
Please add to this, in times of small pubs closing and franchise-type places taking over I believe we need to do all we can to help establish and keep going the places which are just different.
