Finally made it to Dinner this week for lunch. Lovely place; some amazing food but also slightly disappointing to be honest.
One of our party really wanted to have the Rib of beef so I 'had' to help and go with that (it comes for two) and I wish I hadn't. It did seem a bit of a waste to go for something so traditional and 'simple' when the Meat Fruit really was memorable.
One of the other signature dishes, the Tipsy Cake - was one of the nicest deserts I have had in ages.
We were very careful with the wine and managed to get out under budget (expected budget anyway) despite plenty of bottles between 6 of us. Overall, our budget did not allow us to truly explore the (over priced) wine list; very limited choice under £100 per bottle!!!!
One of my general yard sticks is as follows:
Next time, would I happily order 'this' again? Starter and Desert was a yes - main was a definite no. (Not saying I would not try something else but judging the individual dishes...)
Well worth the visit on the whole but won't be rushing back...
