Talk to me about Laverstokepark farm?
Discussion
Just found this on a google search, I knew that Jody Schekter had a farm out near Basingstoke way, but never been.
Farm shop looks good, if a little expensive.... anyone on here shop there?

I've been lucky enough to spend a few hours there in Jody's company a while back. It's a massive farm and everything has been set up and is run in the right way. All completely organic, he raises and slaughters many types of livestock, all on-site.
The prices are fairly steep, but there's no doubt the quality is very good. Well worth a trip to the shop if you're passing. It's only a couple of minutes off the A303.
This really is Jody's passion and he's puts a lot of time, effort and money into it, so I hope it continues to be a success.

I live literally within a stone's throw.
TBH I have found it to be overpriced and not very good quality. The meat we've had from there has been tough and unpleasant to the taste.
I can certainly agree that he's keen to do the whole organic thing very well, and their summer open house event outside Overton seemed to be well attended.
We prefer to go to Manydowns, on the road between Overton and Basingstoke. Much better quality, and their pies are ACE!

Have been to the one in Twickenham. Not bought anything from there yet. Looks to have a great range of meats, including buffalo and their own mozzarella. They also have ossobuco (Milanese specialty of cross-cut veal shanks) which I naturally want to try
.
They are also open on Sundays which is always handy.

Sorry over priced and I have bought from Twickenham, beef lacked flavour and a new recruit to fowl the chicken was organic but lacklustre, quality is over priced but then South East it is expected, Manydown have not bought from them but was given a hamper last year, as we know hampers are somewhat suspect at the best of times but have given a link

used to go to manydowns, but on 2 occasions we had really ppor experience with meat bough from their- being hidesouly overcharged on both occasions, and have found wellington farm shop to be much more consistent- and generally friendlier too.Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
