Honestly, I don't care - this stuff looked, and sounded really f
king nasty, as in "why would that even exist" nasty.
Nastier than harvesting the secretions of a cow and allowing them to putrefy until they form a runny paste inside a crust? I love cheese, but I think it would be understandable enough for someone from a non-dairy eating culture to be horrified at the consumption of milk, let alone rotten milk solids that smell like something has died. Can't say lutefisk appeals to me any more than Hákarl, balut, casu marzu or silkworm pupae, but someone must like it.
king nasty, as in "why would that even exist" nasty.Oh I don't have much time for that either, it sounds wrong. Lutefisk just sounds like someone put a lot of time and effort into coming up with it though, almost like it was intentionally "developed" rather that stumbled upon, which is what possibly makes it seem quite so vile and twisted.

Yep Why would you want to eat something that has been soaked in lye that had "household uses, such as oven cleaner and drain opener".

As long as there's a market for Buckfast, it's probably not the worst thing out there you can consume Why would you want to eat something that has been soaked in lye that had "household uses, such as oven cleaner and drain opener".

I had some in Sweden a couple of months ago. The strength of the smell is something else, but I didn't have a big problem with the taste and happily finished mine. My mate came close to puking though, so fair to say it is not everyone's cup of tea. This is apparently a traditional way of serving it (or masking the taste) with chopped onions, tomato, boiled spuds, creme fraiche, and large amounts of aquavit to wash it down. You definitely do not want to spend the rest of the day indoors though.
