Recently I've been taking a dish generally served so simply and trying to make it look more creative with the presentation.

So, I'd like to see your own take on a great British classic of Sausage and Mash. Without doubt one of my most favourite dishes of all time.

Now of course our competitions are mostly judged on appearance as we cannot taste each others entries, this time I wanted to try and level the playing field by setting the dish. Making it more about coming up with some inventive ways to present which is in essence a dollop of mash and a sausage.

I wanted to choose something that would cater of everyone’s abilities here. Your dish must contain the core ingredients. But I’m going to give pretty much free rain on your creative juices as to what to present it with, on, in, around and so on.

Entries in by the 11th December and voting between 12th-18th.

Maxium of 3 pictures.

Hope that sounds interesting?

tha'ts a good choice pixel snapper

might have to have a go at this-

can i just check- does the dish have to be "a plate of sausage and mash", or does it just have to contain sausages and mashed potatoes?

I think what I'm trying to get at, it must contain at least a tradisional sausage and some form of mash.

My description might be abit contradicting?

So for example taking sausage meat and rolling it in a pork loin would not be correct.

Anyone had any ideas or is this flopping like Ron jeremy after a sexathon?

Could be presented in a funny manner or go all out gourmet its upto you.

Now that's a sausage to be proud of...! biggrin

I think it's a great competition. I have a few ideas, just a case of deciding which one to go with. But I'll DEFINITELY be submitting something.

Ok. This will be the first Comp i've entered.

My idea is a simple Sausage and mash ravioli with some kid of Jus (gravey)

Still at the planning stage.

I'm also going to be submitting an entry. One question, does it have to be mash, or could I use a different carbohydrate substitute?

In honour of our impending trip back to the cradle of humanity (no not Yorkshire!), I was thinking of submitting with an Afrikaans twist to it.

Good point about the carbohydrate! Pumpkin or sweet potato would be my personal choice for the Ravioli

So here we go, my first entry into the cooking competition.

A Ravioli of mashed squash, sausage with a sage and butter sauce.

And the final dish..

Great start Mailman. Looks very good.

I was fortunate enough to be given a bag of rather fine looking homemade sausages from a small organic farm at the weekend. I suspect they are going to be amazing.

I think I might take part in this round. scratchchin
