whisky buying help

my dad has asked for a decent bottle of whisky for xmas, but I only really drink bourbon or rum so dont really know about whisky.

What I do know though is that he hates peaty whiskys, but likes stuff like J&B and Jameson type stuff.

anything up to about £50.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
