We tried the black forest buche (whatever a buche is; never heard of it before) last night and that was rather lovely as well. Although it should have been, it was £13.

Seems to be quite a few for around 15 quid BIN on the bay.

Who on earth is paying hundreds?

Maybe someone jealous is spoiling the auctions?
Does seem strange to me though...

A buche (de noel) is generally a sponge cake made to look like a christmas log. They're served regularly in France for Christmas Eve/Day Dinner in place of our Christmas Pudding/Cake.

A company performing the marketing for Waitrose taking the piss out of lazy media.

Highly successful too - the Sunday Times ran an article on it on their front page, along with the line "oh, but we'll have 75,000 in the stores from tomorrow"

Brilliant smile

Look at completed eBay listings and they aren't selling for anything like some of those asking prices might suggest. Had one last Christmas, was nice but not as good as Mrs 1878's recipe.

There was an article in the Times(?) on Saturday, an entrepreneur had bought up an entire stock from a Waitrose store and was now selling them on Ebay at a massive mark up. Surely Waitrose would have something to say about that?

Apparently the Waitrose in Dartford always has loads, one assumes this is because nobody from Dartford wants a bloody orange in their Christmas pud !

Anyway, it is just a posh Sussex Pond Pudding smile
