Two Questions about Quail
Discussion
I've never had it before, it was in Sainsburys so I've impulse-bought some.
Just noticed it went out of date yesterday.
1. Am I gonna die if I eat it? (doesn't look sticky or green or otherwise dodgy)
2. Assuming the answer to (1) is no, whats the best way to cook it? Roast it? Spatchcock and pan fry it? something else?

Chickened out (pardon the pun!) and went for the safe option of roasting in the end. Will try spatchcock/grill when I'm on my own and I can have the meat pink.
Try Peter Gordon's marinade for quail (or any small game bird). I simply cannot tell you how good this:1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons pomegranate syrup (from the Special Selection at Sainsbury)
3 teaspoons tamari
Grated zest of a lemon
80 ml olive oil
Spatchcock the birds, marinate for 4 hours (or more) and BBQ/grill.
PG serves this on a 'salad' of roasted red onion, carrot and ginger, with some pomegranate seeds and coriander scattered over. Again, delicious.
