Has anybody ordered from one of the many meat suppliers than will post meat to you? I live abroad and one of the things I really miss are proper bacon and proper sausages (turns out that German sausages are not all that great, they are mostly all meat and generally have little in the way of flavouring). If anybody could recommend a decent supplier of such things, I would appreciate it. Lamb is also quite hard to find here so it could be worth ordering some of that too.

Not tried one, but this is our local butcher http://www.parkinbutchers.co.uk/ he does mail order stuff. Never had a bad piece of food from him.

It may not be your thing but good dry cure Bacon is surprisingly easy and cheap to make. I make all my own stuff and in terms of prep time it takes less than 1/2 hour (+ 10 days sitting in the back of the fridge) for a 50 rasher load (which freezes really well). I smoke mine which is a bit of a phaf but if you are happy with unsmoked its easy. Let me know if you want a recipe.

Are you not near an army base? They will have a NAAFI shop you wangle your way into, it will have all the goodies you need.

A good Bockwurst with a bit of bread and mustard is hard to beat.biggrin

Aubrey Allen in Leamington Spa make amazing sausages.

They only mention delivering to the UK but if you give them a shout they might be able to do something for you. The Warwickshire Whizzers are my favorite.

Also, as an Irishman living in the UK, I love that they do white pudding biggrin
