So guys valentines day is fast approaching and the thought has crossed my mind about cooking a meal.

Anyone have any ideas on what to cook , preferably not too hard cook or to make a large hole in my wallet.

Ta Rich.

Richard, this is a good thing to do and your prospective dinner guest will appreciate your effort. Although there are many recipes out there that promise to make a swish looking dish simple, not all of them are to be trusted if you're not a natural chef.

Might I suggest that you Google some Tapas recipes? I think sharing a variety of nice simple little dishes with a cold beer and/or a couple of bottles of wine is relaxed, helps chat and quite intriguing for the other diner. Many of them can be prepared well in advance and kept in the fridge or kept warm depending. Choice of nice cold meats, some patatas bravas, chicken thighs roasted off quickly in a bit of honey, chorizo stewed in cider, bit of grilled mackerel/sardines, grilled aubergine with a spot of olive oil and chilli and garlic, Manchego cheese on little triangles of toast with dollop of quince jelly, whole prawns whacked in a hot pan with some sherry and green peppercorns...etc etc.

No idea yet but if we say in I think I know what we will have. If we go out I think I know where TOH will want to go. Either way I am covered smile
