West Beach is over rated IMO, Guildhall Tavern in Poole is much better

Never eaten there myself, but heard good things about Storm on Poole Quay too. Had some lovely fish at Terra Vina in Lyndhurst a while back too.

West Beach has excellent, and often very local, fish. Always impressed, and they do things simply.

Haven't been to the Guildhall, but anywhere that pretends to be French but can't even be bothered to spell French words properly doesn't really do it for me.

hi

so the verdict is

i liked the guildhall better

slightly nicer food , but mostly atmosphere it was a older crowd but the service and family staff were very nice and so was the general feel of it .

sadly i was on antibiotics other wise i would have taken advantage of the cheap (i live in london) wine list .

west beach was also good , but i was a little annyoyed that bread was a extra charge i feel in most resturants this is standard , just felt very chainy

all in all top places and thank you for your help

i would go back to both next time i am there

They dont pretend, the owners are French... I've eaten in there plenty of times (work just round the corner) and cant fault the food or service.
