Weber BBQ advice please
Discussion
Just a quick question after much drooling and reading of the bbq thread above. Some really great recipes and ideas there.
I see a lot of you have Weber kettle bbqs and wondered if they are the one touch original or one touch premium versions. This is something I really want to try this year as the current gas bbq is ok but the indirect smoking method looks great.

I would go for the One Touch, although the Premium has a thermometer which is nice.
The food will cook the same no matter what, it seems that the Premium is easier to get rid off the ashes.
Oh, just a tip, never clean the grill with water and soap. Just use fire the next time you flash it up.

I can't decide between the one touch and the premium. I have spent too much time burning food on cheapo bbqs. Is it possible to fit a thermometer to the one touch or would drilling a hole for one invalidate the warranty?
I bought an ebay thermometer and drilled a hole for it, works fine. I've had mine about 3 years and it's still solid and sturdy with no signs of rust despite being out in all weathers, not sure how long the warranty lasts?Apologies for the double post as I posted the same thing on the bbq thread.
After loads of googling and pondering, I finally ordered a proper bbq.
1 x Weber 1341504 57cm One Touch Original Kettle Barbecue - Black (0077924004070) £99.00
1 x Weber 8835 Gourmet BBQ System Hinged Grate Set (0077924004902) £25.99
1 x Weber 7416 Rapidfire Chimney Starter (0077924073939) £10.00
1 x Weber 16051 Premium Charcoal Grill Briquettes - 3kg (4043525160107) £3.50
1 x Weber 7417 Barbecue Firestarters (0077924073946) £2.86
Sub-Total: £141.35
57cm one touch, but it already has a thermometer on the lid. The gourmet grate has the hinged sides plus I can buy the cast iron bits later on if required. All in all, works out to be under a tenner more than buying the 57cm one touch premium but includes a few accessories.
Looking forward to it turning up. Now all I need is suggestions for some decent bbq books/websites!

Weber do a book of their own, which includes practical advice on direct and indirect cooking as well as some recipes - I bought it at the same time as picking up my One Touch. RRP was £14.99 from memory.EDIT: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Webers-Complete-Barbecue-S...

Ordered the book. Knowing my luck the weather will now get worse!
Doesn't matter about the weather as long as its not raining, this weekend will be our 6th BBQ/grill this year
I have ordered a 5lb pork shoulder from my local butcher so will be trying my first go at pulled pork...BPC7 said:

The weather is completely unrelated to having a BBQ. The season never ends at my place.Sonic said:

I have a Weber Premium 57cm also in Green bought last year at the Field to Fork Festival. Left out all winter and fired up for the first time this weekend - was half expecting the Themometer to have stopped working but had fogotten how usefull it was - if it had Gas Mark Numbers on it too then it really would be perfect.
The Hinged Grill is usefull - the only thing I didn't get and wished I had was the Chimney Starter thing.
