Lunch in Bristol

Hi all,

Looking for some recommendations for lunch in bristol on a weekend. Must be somewhere relaxed. Thinking cafe style rather than restaurant at the minute. Ideally within striking distance of park st, the centre or up towards Clifton.

We went to Jamies Italian, mainly cos our friend Rose like him. It was relaxed and good.

Raymond blanc has one of his brasserie style places in bristol, heard good things and apparently quite keenly priced.

Try 'source' at st nicks market (me corn street). Great food and relaxed cafe style and fully independent. If that doesn't suit then the food market at st nicks has something for everyone- lots of street food.

Source looks ideal but they aren't open on Sundays! Similar suggestions welcome!

Browns at the top of Park Row, next to the museums is a bit of a tradition in Bristol. The food's ok, the drinks are good, and the staff are very good.

Well Sundays are difficult as loads of places just do Sunday lunch or don't open at all. Maybe try the pump house in hotwells or the albion in clifton village. Or the arch house deli next to the albion. Haven't checked what these do on Sundays tho. All are good foody retreats.

Browns is a chain but the building at the top of park row is pretty spectacular.

Chin! Chin! Bar & Kitchen on St Michaels hill is not far from Park Street and has an excellent reputation.

I've always like Cafe Amore (accent on the e) between Broadmead and the centre, opposite the police station. Always busy, great sandwiches and great coffee with a lovely old skool theme throughout.

Not a fan of Browns at all personally.

Papa Costa Deli, on the triangle top of Park Street. Long and narrow, lovely food and decent prices:

Arch Hous Deli, up in Clifton. Amazing food, lovely deli and really friendly helpful staff. Bit pricier.

Primrose Cafe, also Clifton. Lovely evening food so lunch is probably very nice. Nice atmosphere and tucked away in a really nice little lively quarter of Clifton:

IME the food's average and the staff are awful, I suspect it depends on how hungover they are.

The cafe above Mud Dock is pretty good and not too far from Park Street.
