Chili cook off

Walk into any branch of Nando's and count the number of people who order 'lemon and herb'. Then order for yourself a portion of something 'extra hot' and marvel at how it compares favourably with tomato ketchup in terms of kick.
That is the state of hot food in the UK
EDIT: No, I don't make a habit of eating there!

There`s a great one in All Cannings every year at The Kings Arms. My father in law usually wins the hottest category and also the best vegetarian option. Truly inedibly hot IMHO but some love it. One woman actually assaulted him it was so hot. And yes he`s quite mad.

ks, that is just internet warrior talk, I like hot things an the extra hot is nothing 'like tomato sauce' makes my head go funny after eating it for a while, as hot chilli should do.Haha - hello Jon - at least I assume that's you 'Chillimaster' !
Having attended the first 2 Reading Chilli Cook-Offs I can confirm that they are 'proper' events.
I'm looking forward to getting to a few more this year.
The Upton Cheney event would be the one to go for - as it's held on a chilli farm.
Gus.
