Dry Peas

I like peas in slow cooked soup. Ages ago I bought some dry marrow fat peas from a leading supermarket, but they don't stock them anymore but I have found some in a little shop in town. Super.

Anyway, we grow the things. 150 acres or so. harvest them dry with the combine and put them in a bin, etc.

They are grown for seed to be planted, but is there any reason I can't scoop a few out of a bin and make soup from them?

they are sold are seed, to be planted. Then what is done with them. i presume cattle feed or for human consumption

I would of presumed, they wont kill you, worse case they may not taste the best?

They are all vining varieties (we used to vine them but are too far from the canning plant), one of the varieties we grow was Marrowfat, so I guess that they'd be OK

My guess is that seed might have been treated with pesticide. I wouldn't eat it.
