the scotch whisky industry
Discussion
i visited scotland (the land of my forefathers) last week and visited 3 distilleries on the isle of islay, and i think i now love whisky and everything about the industry! It is so perfectly traditional, the sounds, the smells, the process, the maltings, the old mills, the huge tuns and washbacks, the massive copper stills and the big brass padlocked spirit receivers... i just love it all. They love what they do, the staff are like little families, the locations are all beautiful. I spent £150 on whisky not just because i liked it (and so do the missus, unexpectedly) but also to support them in what they do. Yes some are owned by big companies, but they just let them do their own thing. I came away thinking how do I start my own spirit business!
