that does look rather good - i have had fairly good success using a large electric steamer that we have by putting the meat into the water at the bottom, but can only do small amounts and it will not be as constant a temp as that!

Holy thread resurrection!

There's another Kickstarter Sous Vide circulator project that looks interesting. Apparently if there's enough interest (and it reached the funding target within a day or so), there will be a 240V version. I'm tempted!

Mind you, even Lakeland now have an own brand sous vide machine. Much like the SVS machines it's just a bath with no circulator.

They've still come down in price considerably though.

I wonder how well the lakeland machine holds its temperature? My slow cokker based contraption manages +/- 1c. I'd hope with a alu pot instead of earthenware it'd be better. I like the idea of the immersion circulator device though, it's one less bulky item in the kitchen (although doubling as a slow cooker makes the lakeland machine look practical)

Their timetable looks remarkably optimistic for delivering a fully tested and highly reliable product.
