Nope, you're spot on there!

Makes a huge difference. I don't like tomato on a sandwich unless it's sliced very thinly. Same goes for cucumber. Carrots are better when cut into batons rather than sliced. I love pate, but I hate liver.

It's all about the texture, which changes with different preparation methods.

Fruit especially.

I hate the way you get loads of the core or hard outer flesh if you buy prepared supermarket pineapple or melon.

No it's not just you. Take chicken for example. I find it's much better when dead. And plucked.

Ask any chef, the key to a successful service is all in the preparation. If I'm cooking anything with a lot of moving parts, then having my mise en place ready before I start really helps with timings and the finished dishes.

Try cutting a Mars Bar into thick slices. It's like a different sweet. Especially if it's been in the fridge too

When someone asks me for bleu steak it generally isn't so far gone that a competant vet couldn't revive it biggrin

Add liver to anything with mince, bolognaise, chilli, meatloaf, etc. lick
It's a bit like celery in stew, you don't recognise it, but you know when it's missing.

Burger buns!

A tip I shamelessly nicked from 'Man vs Food'. Melt some butter in a bowl, cut bun in two and paint cut surface with melted butter using a pastry brush. Place butter side down into a hot, thick bottomed dry frying pan and griddle/toast until cut side is an even golden brown.

The difference this makes to a home-made burger has to be tasted to be believed! smile

True dat. And nicer still if they are in 4 triangles rather than two.

Toast is also better when sliced diagonally.

Mine too.

Back on topic, bacon is better grilled than pan fried.

Don't agree in the pan = crisp salty bacon
