Dining in the Dark (London) - anyone been?

Just booked a table for the OH's birthday.

I cant think of anything worse, tbh...it just sounds like such a gimmick?

I've never had a fantastic, top end meal and thought "you know what, i really wish i couldnt see anything and was making a mess"

Sorry, but how the hell are you expected to eat something in the dark? You could end up with it all down your front

I have been and I know this isn't what you are wanting to hear but I hated every single minute of it. I had never heard of the place and was invited to go after a friend had made the reservation for the four of us. You don't get to choose what you eat, you choose a meat based, vegetarian, fish based or chefs choice menu and get what you are given. The dark room makes it very difficult to actually eat anything as it really is that dark that you feel you have gone blind. A table near us was complaining as they had put the wrong food down in front of the people and the veggie had eaten meat.

On a positive note losing your sight does heighten your other senses and it was an interesting experience but not one I would repeat. Prices are not bad though, I think we spent about £70 each for a 3 course with wine.

My son went a couple of years ago and although the food wasn't anything special, the idea of dining in complete darkness was quite novel and made for some interesting conversations around the table.

Recommended as a one-off experience.
