We have a canteen on site that serves up great food but is on the pricey side for anything other than soup.
As i work main reception i am unable to have certain foods as have to eat at my desk we also don't have anything other than a kettle.
I was given one of these this morning,

Very tasty and it got me thinking about other just add water foods/meals that you might recommend.
Salty soup or sausage sandwiches are getting very boring.

You can fairly easily make a 'high end' pot noodle with noodles, tom yam sauce, precooked shrimp etc etc which can be cooked by pouring water over and leaving for 5 minutes.

It is a tasty and healthy way to make your own.

The genuine Chinese alternative to Supernoodles. Found in Asian supermarkets and sometimes corner shops. Not found in the Big 4.

Often properly spicy and very delicious. Usually about 20p a packet.

A guy I used to work with started having instant oats with syrup as a healthy snack (With a headling grabbing '2% Fat!' stuck on the side.) and it used to smell like he was baking a cake. I don't think they were exactly the same brand as the one above, but it turned out they were over 50% sugar. He might as well have stuck to bacon sandwiches.

It was OK as a one off maybe even stretch it to once a week, i'm after more variation without having to spend over a fiver a day.
The odd pot of oats or noodle ain't to bad but it gets boring if you don't have variation and preferbly healthy.

Boiling eggs in the kettle aside, I like the sound of noodle soup for lunch.

Takes minutes to prep some chilli, boc choy and spring onion..... add some left over meat, chicken, pork etc. Put in a plastic tub ready to take to work.

mmmm.

Thanks smile

Hugh on River Cottage made his own versions of pot noodle, I can only find the 1 recipe but would love to see any other ones. Yet to try it, but looks great.

Edit: found some others.

Imported noodle pots are great - much bigger servings than Pot Noodles, for half the price, with twice the flavour. Some of them even contain real veg, try finding that in a Pot Noodle! You can get them in Lidl, Aldi, the ethnic shelf in Tescos etc, or buy them in bulk somewhere like Costcos.

Or oriental supermarkets such as Wing Yip.

My favourite is a Korean brand I can't name (the text on the pot is in Korean) apart from a little flash which says 'HOT TASTE!' Scrumptious.
