Hog Roast Suppliers

Are there any hog roast caterers on here, able to supply a pig large enough for around 75 hungry people at JAE in Wickstead Park on the 8th September?

In the past, the suppliers have arrived at around 16:00 to set up and finish the pig off. Usually they are off site before 19:00.

We need prices for extras including salads, stuffing and apple sauce.

If so, how much will it cost us?

Can't vouch for them but a few years ago I had a beer or three with a chap that does this and I was intrigued by the name: Oli's Hogs. May be worth a try?

Don't know if they travel to Nothamptonshire but their sausages are excellent so their pig roast is probably equally good!

...and there's a good chance the local abattoir knows which farmer has an effective, if perhaps a bit Heath Robinson, roaster for hire. Works out massively cheaper than having a firm in to do it.

75 might be pushing it for 1 pig if they're going to eschew the garnish?

It would be cheaper but it's for our car club, so we don't want to go down the route of pontential food poisoning and the usual insurance issues.

We've had some quotes in so far. It works out fairly expensive per person but we don't have to lift a finger, meaning we can spend the day drinking.

Yup. I reckon so. Ok, if you assume it's that cost for essentially a pork sandwich, it looks expensive. But the fact they will come to the car show, onto our stand and cook for us, I reckon it's a bargain really.

So you say, how long does a whole pig take to roast through? 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours? I wouldn't have a clue...

Depends on the size of the pig typicaly from 3-7 hours but its best to check with a meat thermometer every hour after the initial 2 hours.
