Posh instant coffee

Recently picked up these two in my local Sainsbury's Local:



Got the Nescafé one first and was quite impressed. The "Barista style" instant coffee was very rich and creamy, giving a very good approximation of "proper" coffee.

The Kenco version is noticeably darker and stronger, but none the worse for that. It doesn't, despite what you might think, taste like a Geordie comedienne.

As someone who gets up for work at ungodly hours and just needs a good dose of kick-start caffeine, these both really fit the bill.

I haven't tried the Nescaff stuff, I wasn't overly keen on the Sarah Kenco when I tried it.
Now just use a bean to cup machine.

I agree, the Kenco one, as far as instant coffee goes, is pretty good.

but not as good as the real deal coffee.

I have a B2C machine at home which is brilliant. I'm a confirmed coffee snob.

Took some of those Millicano sachets camping though and I was very impressed... Get the 'real coffee' taste without the horrific grittiness I found trying the Starbucks 'VIA' sachets.

Not a fan of instant coffee, not just the snob value although I am very poshe, but I prefer to take a few minutes making a nice cup of coffee. The process of making the coffee is all part of the enjoyment for me.

They've got very finely powdered whole coffee mixed in with the instant. Bit of an improvement on instant, but still not quite right. The Starbucks version is similar.

I do too, but when you turf yourself out of bed and stumble into the kitchen at 0330 like an extra from "Shaun Of The Dead", you just want something quick and easy. And tasty.

When you dont have the time or equipment these are a considerable improvement on instant. I prefer the nescafe version as the millicano doesnt appear to dissolve as well and is a bit gritty...bargain in Sainsbury's at the moment too

I use the Nescafé one at work. Agree with the OP, both are far nicer than regular instant.

I picked up a few of the cans of the smaller nescafe stuff... mind you there were on at £1.64 as a deal so thought it was rude not to try them and Im pleasantly surprised, good when Im in a rush and want a caffeine fix.

just buy a moka and get it ready before you go to bed then wake up, stumble into kitchen, turn a ring on (helps if it's the right one) and light a cig

it'll be ready before you finish your first nicotene intake of the day
