WTF is this mushroom ? Its about 18" wide and 24" high ,it doesnt seem to stop growing. It sprouted out of the side of a dead chestnut tree trunk,beside the pond . Is it poisonous,will it ever stop growing ?

I reckon it's a Dryad's Saddle. I had one in my garden and it was the size of a tractor seat.

It's edible when young, but it has a sort of 'perfumed' taste that I don't like.

Slice it, fry in garlic butter and see what you think.

Thanks for the answers ,I havent plucked up the courage to taste it although it looks tasty. I can imagine it AS a plate with a full english breakfast on . And thanks for your concern for future beings ShredderXLE.(but not at my expense eh ) lick
