Best Kebab in Liverpool City Centre

Hello,

I am looking for opinions on the best kebab in Liverpool City centre (or surrounding areas).

In my opinion, it is the Chicken Kebab sold in Botan on Berry St (top of Duke St).

They use a mix of white/dark meat, marinaded in Turkish Style rub and flame grilled. What really sets it apart is their homemade chilli sauce. It is unlike any chilli sauce I have ever had in a Kebab House. It is cooked and served warm, and is very savoury - definitely not ketchup/vinegar based. It is really delicate texture, and quite spicy. I think it has lentils and chilli, show cooked for days.

Only thing I would change is the bread - they serve in pitta and I would rather a thin naan bread.

I rate the Nile on Smithdown Rd - huge portions! I am, not keen on their marinade though. It is tikka style, quiet heavy on the cumin.

Anyone else know any good takeaways in Liverpool City Centre?

I have no affiliation to Botan - hence looking for alternatives!! Their chilli sauce is amazing but sick of eating Kebabs on Pitta Bread!

Went to Big Bowl Noodle bar on Bold St today - they do great Roast Duck and Char Sui!

Where abouts in town are you Craig?

When I lived up there I used to love the chicken curry and chips from the chip shop opposite central station cant remember any kebab places using naan though but I agree with you much better than pita

the only input I have is that i was on a stag do in liverpool recently, and on the way home i grabbed a kebab, and it was the worst i have ever had.

I've yet to find a good kebab in any city 'centre' anywhere in the UK. They just seem to be geared up with crap quality food to cater for the pisshead rush.

Depends what you mean by Kebab, dinner is pretty much always filthy so I never have it. But chicken/lamb tikkas, seekh and shish are usually pretty good and of course the infanouse Kobeda kebabs from rusholme.

The Nile on smith down is one of my favourites. Boneless mixed grill kebab is amazing, and special Nile sauce!
And yes the portions are good.

Directly opposite Nile is friends, which does very good food too.

You can tell there good as plod stops in them both to get food late at night.

The Nile on Smithdown Road would be my all time favorite - I'm just not keen on their marinade. Too much cumin - almost Tikka style.

I got their special once - it weighed about 3 stone! Had chicken, lamb, kofte, chicken wings and lamb chops in it! Their special sauce is good and their naan bread is freshly made - additional breads 30p each.

Friends opposite also make their naan bread fresh, and it's lovely. Again, I found a tikka style taste to their marinade. Other than that, it was nice.

There is a place on Lawrence Road that crisps off the donner meat on the flame grill after slicing off the rotissarie, which is a lovely touch!

I believe Babylon Grill on Smithdown is good?

They serve them in pitta unfortunately - but do provide an almost peanutty chilli sauce apparently.
