Kebabs on naan or pitta? Is this a regional thing?

I live in Manchester and have noticed that the majority of kebab houses in the city centre only serve their kebabs on pitta bread or a flat bread.

Where my parents live, which is in the suburbs, you can get kebabs served on pitta or naan.

In Rusholme, all of the kebabs are served on naan bread and these include the usual donner, kobeda or any of the usual grilled meat combos.

What are your experiences elsewhere in the country?

in leeds its the choice of either with a slight price increase for naan, personaly i always order mine on a keema pratha... nothing like extra meat in the bread !!

Once you're used to naan, pita kebabs just don't cut it. Used to wind me upin manchester having some tny girly bread that then disintigrates after being doused in chilli sauce...

I recognised that kebab as originating from the curry mile immediately. I went to Al Qud's last time. Single kobeda and chicken. Then onto the Moonlight for ice cream. Mmmmmmm.

In East Lancs shops I have been in, Pita or Naan is dependent on size of Kebab ordered.

Only ever seen them on a pitta. But I did have a chicken tikka pizza naan the other day. So wrong, and yet so right

Most kebabs around here are on a pita unless it's a king kebab which come on a naan, those things are absolutely huge.

As somebody else said above, every shop round here offers the choice, with a slight price increase for naan. North west England here too.

I used to live in Manchester and near where I lived (Longsight... Nice!) they all served kebabs on Naan rather than pitta.

Can't find anywhere in Bristol that does them on Naan

I love living in Manchester, although my waistline doesn't.

We've got a takeaway near us who will do a donner kebab with chicken pakoras on a naan bread. Freaking amazing.

On fresh made Naan a kebab really hits the spot. You look at Pitta as a really poor substitute afterwards.
I must concur with comments about Rusholme though, you get some amazing grub there.
Just wondering, Mr Panda, where is the place you mention with the pakora and donner meat?

I'd never ever heard of a kebab being servied on a naan bread until this thread.

Pita all the way. Part of the challenge of a dirty take away doner is trying to eat it before the pita disintegrates.

When my boys lived in Stoke Poges, my Sunday evening treat after dropping them back with their mother, would be a detour into to Slough for a dirty chicken doner in naan, delicious! Have yet to find anywhere in Surrey that serves them
